Major in Human Welfare

Modern Japan has rapidly become an aging society. A time in which one out of every two people is a senior citizen will arrive soon. Everyone starts with birth and eventually enters the terminal phase. We should not allow people in this phase to live in loneliness. Their families, friends and communities must collaborate with each other to create an environment in which seniors feel happy and motivated to live. In the Major in Life Assistance Services, we aim to develop the personnel required for providing society with a good living environment.
The first and second-year is devoted to the study of care work, which becomes the basis of support for seniors and handicapped people. During these years, the students can obtain the certificate for a certified associate care worker and the qualification for the national examination for a certified care worker. As for the national examination, we aim for a passing rate of 100% based on our experience and results accumulated over the last ten years. For the third and fourth-year students, we offer curriculums for more specialized occupations in the field of care work, including care for dementia patients and physically disabled people. We have also introduced an internship with the purpose of developing personnel who can work in the field of welfare from day one. In addition, a curriculum through which the students can become “recreation workers” is also available. Furthermore, we also offer students aiming to become social workers, certified psychiatric social workers or high school teachers a curriculum which enables them to acquire respective qualifications.
In the Major in Life Assistance Services, with our eye on the future, we promise to develop welfare workers required for the “creation of local communities” in which everyone can live happily.
